About The Club

The Melbourn Bowls club has been in existence for over 80 years and provides the sporting facility of the game of bowls to approximately 60 members of the local community and surrounding towns and villages.

The club is self funding, supporting itself year by year by means of club subscriptions, playing fees and general fundraising via event days and hosting tournaments and competitions with other clubs in the area. Membership of the club is open to all, irrespective of age, race or creed.

The clubhouse and green are situated in the parish of the village of Melbourn in Cambridgeshire. The ground is owned by the parish council for which we pay a nominal annual rent

The club house and green was originally constructed many years ago by its members and supporters in the area. In its current form we have seating and table accommodation within the clubhouse for 25 to 30 people or players after matches and on event days.

Additional ad hoc seating can be made available outside the clubhouse, but within the club grounds for a further 50 to 60 people if necessary.

The clubhouse and the associated storage sheds and their fitments and contents were financed and built by the members and are maintained by them, they are considered to be owned by the club.

The club is managed and run, in accordance with the Melbourn Bowls Club Constitution, by a committee consisting of a President , Secretary, Treasurer and Team Captains, with additional committee members that perform or manage tasks associated with the running of the club.

The club currently has has approximately 50 to 60 playing and subscribing members within ages ranged from 20 to 80+ years.

The club is affiliated to BOWLS ENGLAND the unified governing body for flat green bowling in England. (Formerly the EBA).
