Match Information
Melbourn Bowls Club are entered in the following Bowling Leagues
Cambridge and District Division 2 and 5
Matches are played as 4 rinks of triples according to the C and D roving cot rules. Our division 2 team consists of the strongest players in the club. There are five divisions in total, the winners of each play in a Champions of Champions competition at the end of the season. Also played is the Gilbert Cup which is a knock-out competition within the C and D league with the same rules
Meldreth League
Teams entering the Meldreth League are divided into two halves, the winners of each, playing in a final at the end of the season. This is played as 4 rinks of triples standard EBA rules.
Business House Mixed League
This is played as 2 rinks of pairs, standard rules. The mixed league is split into two halves with the winner of each half playing in a final at the end of the season.
Ladies County Triples
Played as two rinks ladiesof triples, standard rules. Our team compete in the Southern Cambs, division, with a final being played between Southern and Northern winners at the end of the season
Friendlies
As the title suggests these “Friendly” fixtures are setup with clubs both local and not- so -local. These matches give the chance to new bowlers in the club to gain experience of the rules of the game and also of matches in friendly and less competitive environment.
Other Events
Throughout the bowling season other event days are held at the club green, e.g. tournaments and competitions as well as fund raising and charity days. See this website diary for details.
