The aim of the Melbourn Fete & Music on the Moor is to bring the village together, to have fun, socialise and raise money for local groups. Each year the committee organises the day so that local clubs, societies and charities can set-up stalls and provide entertainment to help with their fundraising. All proceeds are put back into the community.
As the Fete grows in size each year, the committee has ever more to organise. We rely heavily on volunteers to help us out. Without our volunteers, the day would not be possible!
Would you like to get involved? If so, send your contact details and availability to melbournfete@aol.com or give Paula a call on 07402 273527.

Hello readers
I have given some thought to the energy crisis we must all face at sometime in the future. It seems to me that each and every village ,town or city in the uk needs to make its own power and be responsible for its own waste.?Be it wind farm’s, hydro power or nuclear power.
If we choose to live in a city using a lot of energy we must have the means to power our well lit existence.?But just because we live in the country and work in a city we must not forget the energy that we use getting to work, electric trains, cars, buses, lighting, heating, and the dreaded aircon all have a price to pay.?
So what to do?

What in heavens name do we the motorist have to do to be assured of fair play. I am sure you all have seen the news this morning, reference the proposed increase in fines for lesser fixed fines.
I personally can’t see what connection there is between A.N Other parking his car and overstaying his welcome, getting a fixed penalty fine increased by £15 which is duly used to help victims of crime. What a load of c***.
I can’t for the life of me see why I should pay for some poor individuals misfortune. It should be the low life who caused the pain and suffering, their belongings, homes, bank accounts, cars etc are the things to be used, then the scum will have to think twice if they consider doing it again.
If we as a society keep on stroking these morons saying “there there dear, it must have been the day of the week you were born on that makes you a criminal” then we can only expect more and more take take take.
It is time we all stood our ground and demanded that our leaders wake up and smell the coffee. We should insist that the police attend antisocial behavior incidents, robbery’s etc and the courts convict burglars, rapists, robbers, fraudsters the list is endless, but what isn’t endless is the sentence. These low life who cost us all so dearly, seem able to leave prison after half their term if they were good. We seem today to have a police force which is either inept or that it’s hands are tied by legislation. Either way it needs to change.
We as a village need to join together and demand that the services that we pay for through the back of the neck are provided. If we get the 20mph trial then I am damn sure some of us who generally obey the law will be caught up in a fixed penalty issue, but we won’t get a second one. I am however in favour of it as it might just cause pain and suffering to the fools who disregard our village.
The lesser mortals amongst us shall I say, won’t care because they will either have their fines postponed, reduced or will simply ignore them. It is beyond belief that we put up with this.
Please don’t let this continue, complain to the police, complain to the Parish Council, complain to our MP.

Hello
I have just been out for a walk in the snow, the village looks lovely especially round by All Saints Church. If it’s possible for you all to get out and have a walk before it all gets ruined by the cars
or melts.
Global warming, what global warming!

Over the last few months we have noticed that the number of collection bags for charity being put through our door is excessive (2/3 each week. Because of this excessive number it is impossible to support the charities involved as as a result none are supported using the plastic bags, our charity contributions being dealt with in other ways to charitable causes chosen by us.
