Yet again the spectre of the noisy scooters and lunatics using the nursery car park off The Moor has started in earnest. One lady nearly run over as vehicles drive/ride on the pavement.

Why isnt the access gate locked any more? Who did/does lock it? Where are the promised police patrols? As invisible as the mythical unicorn. Are we the only ones bothered by these uncompromising selfish idiots or is everyone else burying there heads.

Well be warned if it continues someone who is innocnt may be getting buried.Lets have a unified approach and get them off the roads. This is involving cars/mopeds and seems to be between the hours of 2000 and 2200.

Lock the gates-give out a few tickets and seize vehicles being used in an anti social way.

I am trying to organise a Speedwatch group for Melbourn. If you would like to volunteer and have a minimum of two hours per month to offer plus two hours initially for training please do contact me.

Am I the only one who received a copy of HORIZONS which is the HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL newsletter? It’s probably not their fault that it was distributed in CAMBRIDGESHIRE because Royal Mail probably didin’t tell them! Blame the silly post code which many of us have been fighting to get changed for years to no avail. If you live in Melbourn simply put your home address, add Cambridgeshire and the postcode. There is no need for Royston, Herts to be shown as the postpersons have long since given up scratching out Cambridgeshire. There is no delay in delivering.

It is noticeable how the volume of traffic has increased along the by-pass over the last year or two. It is a big problem for drivers attempting to turn right towards Cambridge from Royston Road junction and can cause a waiting time of ten minutes or more at some points during the day.

It’s easy to see how several accidents have occurred there, as drivers get so frustrated and anxious end up taking risks and so I was wondering if the road layout could be modified to help. Perhaps a ‘holding lane’ midway for cars turning right could be implemented, so at least you could negotiate half the amount of traffic at a time would be helpful?

I live on the High Street and during peak times find it difficult to drive out of the gate due to traffic traveling much in excess of 30 mph. Why can’t we have some of the flashing 30 signs which most villages seem to have? We are a very large village, and have industry and businesses which daily bring extra cars and lorries through the village.
